A Strategy is defined as “a plan, method, or series of maneuvers or stratagems for obtaining a specific goal or result; an elaborate and systematic plan of action”

A Tactic is “a plan, procedure, or expedient for promoting a desired end or result.”

Just think of it this way. The strategy is the BIG plan to achieve the BIG goal. The tactics are the little how-to’s you use to get there.

While you may often change tactics as you pursue your goals, you generally choose a specific strategy and stick with it. Generals think in strategies; field soldiers execute tactics.

So what does this have to do with your business?

You are the general of your business. You are the one who decides on the strategies your business will use to achieve your goals. For example, affiliate marketing may be one of the strategies you use to achieve your revenue goals. A tactic may be using pay-per-click ads to drive traffic to the products you are promoting.

Here’s another example. Your strategy may be to sell a low-end product to generate leads. Your tactic could be using the 7 dollar system to do it.

Since strategy dictates the direction of your business and the tactics you use, you rarely want to change your strategy. That’s why I’m really curious about the upcoming webinar on Wednesday, October 29th.

In a recent email I got, Armand said he was going to reveal a change in his strategy. Knowing him, this is not a spur-of-the-moment decision. He takes his strategy very seriously because he’s made so much money using it!

Plus, I’m in a private discussion group with him – and he’s been conspicously absent for the past week. That’s always a sign he’s working on something BIG.

It’s my way of reassuring you that regardless of what day it is on the calendar, you can start a New Year today!

Think about it. Traditionally we all get excited about setting goals on January 1. We are all revved up about Taking Action – for about 2 weeks. Then we start to beat ourselves up about why we haven’t stuck with the plan – and by March 1, we’re tired and discouraged and think “oh well, another year down the drain.”

It doesn’t have to be that way!

You can start a New Year ANY day of the year. For example,

• A New School Year starts the day after labor day.
• A new fiscal year starts for businesses on whichever day they choose to start it.
• The Chinese new year starts on a different date every year, as does the Jewish New Year.

So decide TODAY that you’re going to start a new year TODAY.

1. What goals do you have?

2. What actions do you need to take to achieve them?

Take a few minutes to write these down. You already know what they are because you’ve set New Years Goals before. But now you get a “bonus” new start for the year – right here in the middle of September!
