Enjoy filing with this secret weapon
ByWow! This spring cleaning is taking longer than I planned. And I’m running a bit behind in sharing my ideas and progress with you.
I’ve been knee deep in listing items on eBay (more on that later) and labeling files. Now let’s talk about files.
These are actual non-digital files. File folders to be exact. Here’s a picture of the “before files” – well, a small sampling of them.

Â
Now here they are “after” I’ve used my secret weapon.Â
Â

Â
Yes, I’m talking about a label machine. When I first heard about using one (from David Allen, author of Getting Things Done), I poo-poohed the idea. I saw it as an additional step.
But determined to follow his suggestions exactly, I purchased the Brother P-touch PT-1950. And I love it!
As you can see when the folders are not labelled they are hard to read. And inside a dark file drawer (or my purse) they are hard to see. But with the clear white labels and black print, it’s a cinch to find anything I need – fast!
Plus, seeing all of my neatly labelled folders motivates me to want to keep them neat and filed. And that’s worth the $80 for the label printer!

Hi Jeanette,
Always enjoy your e-mails. I agree that the Brother P-touch labeler is one of the best tools to have! As a professional organizer I use mine constantly. But, if you really want to have a fantastic filing system so that you can find anything you file in a nano-second and you get to use the computer (which I know you love) please check out http://www.saveanhouraday.com. This website will explain and show you screen shots of the Paper Tiger Software System that will truly help you save an hour a day!
All my best,
Elizabeth

Good point, Elizabeth (great to hear from you!)
A LOT of my friends have found their filing solution in Paper Tiger. Barbara Hemphill, the mind behind the software is a long-time friend of mine – and was one of our speakers at the Womens Power Summit last fall. Wow – did she give a great presentation! You can imagine all the tips we got from her.
And keep your great ideas coming –
Jeanette
